Building Your Political Skills as a Training Professional: A Simulation Approach
Implementing a major learning initiative within an organization requires collaboration, support, and buy-in from several stakeholders. It also requires that stakeholders see the business value your learning initiative can bring to their function. In fact, many great ides fail because stakeholders do not see the business value of your training program. Your success in driving a learning initiative, therefore, is highly dependent on your ability to sustain executive level support, gain buy-in, and demonstrate business value for the organization. Consequently, by increasing your own political skills, you can provide needed momentum and excitement for both your learning initiative and your department overall. This session is intended to equip you with essential skills needed to build a broad base of support, win buy-in, and demonstrate the business value you can bring. Specifically, the program centers on:
- Determining what stakeholders to focus on
- Creating a visual political support map of supporters and allies
- Leveraging persuasive techniques for increasing support
- Understanding the value requirements of stakeholders
- Sustaining executive level buy-in and support
