Their passion for innovating products and services eclipsed a crucial understanding of business models and financial implications, creating difficulties in conveying the value and sustainability of their ventures to stakeholders such as customers, investors, and government bodies.
To address this, we immersed entrepreneurs in the CELEMI Apples & Oranges™ business simulation – a dynamic, gamified learning experience designed to cultivate fundamental business acumen. This interactive platform empowered participants to make decisions and instantly revealed their impact on key financial statements: the Profit and Loss statement, the Balance Sheet, and the Cash Flow statement. The simulation provided a hands-on approach to understanding business finance in a risk-free environment, enabling participants to grasp concepts like gross and net profit, cash versus profit, working capital, and the nuances of equity and investment.
Armed with practical knowledge and insights from the CELEMI Apples & Oranges™ experience, entrepreneurs were able to confidently navigate the financial aspects of their business models. They gained the proficiency to constructively discuss investment utilization and to delineate the financial scaling of their businesses. The training significantly boosted the participants’ ability to formulate compelling pitch decks, robust grant applications, and articulate business strategies, thereby strengthening their pitches to stakeholders and enhancing their overall financial decision-making capabilities.
